About Me

My name is Kyra D. Adams, MSW, PMH-C, CLC, ICCE, ICBD. I am the Executive Director of Maternal and Perinatal Services, Inc. Since beginning my career working with families in 2007, I’ve come to see the needs in the community and the barriers to services. My education, training, experience working in the field and working with families ignited my desire to be a service provider and leader in prenatal education and postpartum support.

Breastfeeding Education

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months and continued breastfeeding afterwards, in addition to complementary foods. According to the Center for Disease Control, breastfeeding reduces the risks of asthma, Type 1 diabetes, ear infections, obesity, and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
